This model from Gary Walton is a study in the fine art of detail weathering. Gary started with an undecorated Accurail trailer shell. Gary rarely used their floor and underbody so he relied primarily on A-Line's floor and suspension kits for a more prototypical look. The shell was heavily modified to represent a 45' Miller built rail trailer originally branded in the Illinois Central Gulf livery (barely visible "ghost" images above the landing gear). The model is based on a prototype that was de-identified and re branded into the XTRA lease fleet likely working for one of the LTLs (like Roadway, CF or ABF) or 4th class mail contractors so prevalent in the '90s. The model was finished using Athearn wheels, Walthers' modified landing gear, Microscale decals (the B&W negative), and Polly Scale paint. Gary built a sister trailer to this one found in Photo Gallery 4.
