Atlas has announced a generic taxicab version of their Ford Taurus (shown above). Estimated delivery is August 2006.
Brekina has announced several new paint schemes on their outstanding Porsche 917 model and in a surprise move announced for delivery later this year the Porsche 956 race car! Concerning the 917, directly from the latest Brekina brochure:
Briton David Piper is the only driver who was involved in the development of the 917K back in 1969 and who is still actively participating today, driving a 917K in historical racing. He began with a yellow 917K at Le Mans and drove the red car at Magny Cours in 1970. The green vehicle in the set is based on the finish of Piper’s current 917K. The David Piper set mixes the rich traditional designs from Porsche Salzburg with the "British Racing Green" typical for English drivers.
The Porsche 956 and its brother 962 with the longer wheel base dominated the events at Le Mans in the 80's. Six times in sequence (1982-1987) they crossed the finish line first in the 24-hour race. In 1983, the Porsche 956 even took the first 8 places!
Brekina certainly continues to delight period race car fans. We wish them well and look forward to many more extraordinary models! Special thanks to Bill Cawthon from the German to English translation of the Brekina brochure!

Ricko has released the photo above of their Dodge Charger in generic police black and white paint scheme. This is a pre-production model with "borrowed" wheels and tires from another model that are slightly oversize. The production model will have prototypically correct wheels and tires.
Also from Ricko, here is the first photo of the limited-production #38875 1935 Mercedes 770V Imperial Japanese Limousine. This is a 1:87 scale reproduction of the automobile built for Emperor Hirohito. The model was created with the cooperation of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart which has the original on display. The highly detailed Ricko model even includes a replica of the Emperor’s special golden silk throne in the rear and the gold Imperial chrysanthemum on the rear doors.
