Quite a lot of them were previously available as promotional models. All truck models come as limited editions.
Passenger Cars
101677 – 2004 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, metallic Amazonite blue ($20.95; shown above): When Mercedes-Benz teamed up with McLaren for Formula 1 racing, the idea occurred to make a road-legal Silberpfeil in the tradition of both companies. A supercharged V8 making 626hp drives what DaimlerChyrsler calls the Gran Turismo for the 21st century – and means to make the BMW V12-powered McLaren F1 (the benchmark supercar to some) a faint memory. Herpa was selected to produce promotional models for the car’s introduction at last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show. The result could well be Herpa’s best offering to date. After regular models were delivered in April, an enhanced Private Collection release with chrome-wheels and detail printing will see the light of the day in May. 023245 – 2004 BMW 645Ci convertible, dark wine red ($8.95) 033244 – 2004 BMW 645Ci convertible, metallic Atlantic blue ($9.95): The V8 convertible (the first one to be produced by BMW since the 501 of the 1950s) is another model to represent all Herpa can do if there is someone to foot the bill. BMW received their promotional models in January this year. Now, Herpa is free to distribute the models through hobby shops. Let’s hope it resembles its coupé sibling in that it comes with chromed wheels.

Delivery Vans and Emergency Vehicles
046206 – 2003 Porsche Cayenne Command Car, Bietigheim-Bissingen Volunteer Fire Brigade ($13.50; shown above): This is not your ordinary command car. But then, the town of Bietigheim-Bissingen is very close to Stuttgart where Porsche resides, so the sports-car manufacturer is very likely to have made an offer no one could turn down. In winter last year, the town’s volunteer fire department received their 250hp, V6-powered Porsche truck in red with flashing blue lights. 046190 – Volkswagen Transporter Mk4, Wiesbaden Fire Brigade ($13.95) 046220 – 1996 Mercedes-Benz Actros M-cab roll-off container truck w/materials container, Wiesbaden Fire Brigade ($22.50): Fire vehicles from Hesse’s state capital were part of the Herpa range before. Now, Herpa promises to produce a small series of Wiesbaden’s fire equipment, starting with the VW T4 command car and M-B Actros roll-off container truck. 046213 – Volkswagen Transporter Mk3, Hamburg Fire Brigade ($13.95): Another city to be featured regularly within Herpa’s collection of fire vehicles, the city of Hamburg still has a fleet of VW T3 passenger vans. Some of these are used as first-responder units in case of atomic, biological, or chemical hazards. 046046 – Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (facelift) EMS-van, German Red Cross Niederkassel ($15.50): Another Sprinter EMS-van in ivory with striking red markings. 150200 – THW vehicle set, 2004 National Youth Competition ($54.95): The German disaster relief organization, THW, sponsors an annual competition between their junior members. Reason enough for Herpa to produce a set of three vehicles with THW decorations: A BMW 5-series Mk4 sedan from Saxony-Thuringia’s chapter; a Mercedes-Benz Vario van of the Nordhausen training center; and a MAN F2000 container truck with materials trailer.

European Trucks
149723 – Liebherr R954 Litronic excavator, Max Wild ($40.95): Last year’s excavator changes its clothing in short intervals: Introduced first in Liebherr’s factory colors and later as part of a Hochtief train set, it now comes in the well-known green of Max Wild. There were a couple of other Max Wild vehicles earlier, including a lowboy to carry the large Liebherr. 149709 – 2002 Mercedes-Benz Actros LH-cab truck-tractor w/reefer semi-trailer, Grossmann/Krone ($33.95): The trucks of Grossmann Forwarding already form a small series within Herpa’s line. The most recent offering advertises the two-story reefer trailer by Krone. 149730 – 2000 MAN TGA LX-cab truck-trailer w/interchangeable boxes, Wandt Forwarding/Brunswick 2010 ($30.95): Adalbert Wandt of Brunswick is a big collector’s theme for their trucks with a large variety of decorations. This rig does is no exception as it promotes Brunswick’s application to be 2010’s European Capital of Culture. 150156 – 1994 Mercedes-Benz SK Eurocab truck-trailer w/interchangeable refrigerated boxes, Riwatrans ($27.75) 150248 – MAN 750 L box-type truck w/full trailer, Riwatrans ($27.75): As promised before, the fictious forwarding company’s fleet gets regular additions with trucks from the 1950s to today. The company logo differs between the decades. 150385 – 2000 MAN TGA XL-cab, truck-tractor w/fuel semi-trailer, Höcketstaller Hauling ($30.95): This rig features a new Willig fuel semi-trailer that was just introduced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. It will deliver gas and diesel oil to your local filling station. The first model is decorated for a forwarder rather than an oil company. Together with Schuco’s diecast Schrader Unitas and AWM’s Rohr semi-trailer, this is one of the few modern fuel semis in 1/87th scale. The Herpa pieces’ predecessor served more than 15 years. 150378 – DAF CF85 tractor-trailer w/40ft silo-container, Hoyer-Talke Dry Bulk Logistics ($30.95): The 40-foot silo-container is another item that was introduced in Nuremberg in February. The prototype is made by LAG Bree in Belgium.

Design by Peter Litger. 120579 – 1996 Scania 4-series R-cab Topline truck-tractor w/reefer semi-trailer, Guy Guérin II ($69.95): Rather soon after the first Guy Guérin show truck, Herpa produces the second colorfully decorated rig that was created by Lorent Décor in France.

Buildings
149747 – Forwarder’s Main Building ($33.95) 150361 – Garage Building ($19.95) 150408 – Pump Stations ($13.95) These buildings were shown in Nuremberg as a MAN truck service center, but they are meant to form a forwarder’s yard now.
