The Second Annual Holiday Model Contest is over.
We've checked every entry and the judges have made their decisions:
Winner in the Holiday Scene category is Glenn Williams'
marvelous "Jason & Bob's Christmas" diorama (shown above).
Runner-up is "Daylight Bust" by Dean Haaf, who was also a
winner in last year's contest.
Joe Bohannon's "Santa's Own Eggnog" truck (shown
above) earns top honors in the Holiday Model competition. Andrew Boucher,
who took the 2001 contest with his patriotic scene, picks up second
place with a nice Athearn Ford C Christmas Tree truck.
Honorable mentions go to Gary Mulford in Holiday Scene
for his whimsical Santa Races and to Karl Erk in Holiday Model for his
old-time Santa Fe Freight Service truck loaded with Christmas Trees
and a candy cane. In keeping with the spirit of the season, Gary and
Karl will receive prizes, too. Watch for photos of all these winners
to appear in upcoming Photo Gallery presentations.
Thanks to everyone who entered. It's still a small contest,
but we had several more entries this year than in 2001. I hope to do
this again next year, so I am giving everyone lots of notice. From now
until next fall, I'll be looking for prizes, so you might want to be
looking for ideas.
Special thanks to Bob Johnson, Lonestar
Models, Promotex, Flint Imports
and Truck Stop Models for their help in putting together this year's contest. Everybody went
"above and beyond" to make sure this one was the best yet.
