Jim Groeneweg built this stunning Monfort Kenworth W900 and 40' refrigerated trailer, leaving the paint detail Athearn provided on the tractor as is. As Jim asks rhetorically, "How can you improve on that?" Jim modified the chassis by stretching it to 220" wheelbase, modified battery box, replaced fuel tanks and changed wheels from the originals to two hole steel wheels from A-Line. Jim removed and replaced exhaust stacks made from K&S Aluminum tubing with Masterbilt Models exhaust heat shields installed. He also removed the sun visor as this series didn't seem to sport them, added spotlights both sides along with convex mirrors, license plate panel and bug deflector in green no less. License plates are Microscale.
The trailer is a Trainworx Brown undercoated model to replace the original, ordered the reefer from Trainworx too, awesome detailed piece. Monfort never ran belly mounted reefers and 12'6" trailers were the norm. All Monfort decals are from Graphics On Demand, cut free with an X-Acto knife before transferring onto the trailer. Trailer number is from A-Line and license plate is from Microscale.
