Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

GM TDH-4512 "Old Look" Transit Bus - By John DaPos

John DaPos says his goal with this model was to recreate a bus from his past in Pittsburgh, an "old look" GM Port Authority Transit unit. He was lucky enough to have the body of a Pirate Models white metal model that was in four pieces. It was the correct length and width for his project. The other obvious choices for this project included the American Precision model (prototype is 102" wide) and Classic Metal Works model (prototype is only 30' long). John used body filler to hide joints in the assembly and added many details to finish his bus. An interior and chassis were added, wheels came from -Line, and the grille emblem was made from metal strips taken from Plano Scale Models mirrors. Striping is from a Union Pacific Microscale decal sheet and many homemade water slide decals.
