Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Kenworth W900A Aerodyne Truck Tractor - By Markus Fuerthaler

Markus Fuerthaler built this very impressive Kenworth W900A with Aerodyne sleeper, being inspired by a picture found in a German truck modelers' magazine a long time ago. The chassis is from the Promotex Kenworth T600, heavily reworked, with added steering parts from Herpa. The sleeper is from Promotex with removed fairings, cab and grille from Athearn, and wheels from Boley. Markus added windshield wipers, fuel tanks, and real rubber mud flaps from A-Line and stainless steel quarter fenders from Plano Model Products. Many parts are scratchbuilt: sun visor from thin aluminium part from a computer floppy disc, front bumper from 5 mm styrene strip, mounts for mud flaps from staples, exhaust stacks from 1.6 mm copper tubes, air brake hoses and electrical cable for the connection with trailer are from 0.2 mm stainless steel wire and different turn signal lights from the spare parts box. Chrome is from Bare Metal Foil and Testors paint chrome for the micro sized parts. The red Paint is from Revell. Markus says he likes the '80s Schwarzenegger action movies so this truck serves for owner -operator “Jack Slater”. He “will be back” in action later with his truck, teamed with two different bottom dump trailers matching to the prototype from the magazine.
