Caterpillar 12 Grader - By David Flynn

This model by David Flynn is a Norscot Caterpillar No.12 road grader modified to represent a 1949 Cat used by the Town of Smithtown (New York) highway department until 1965. David made many small changes such as adding a scarifier and including the ring gear housing. He also reduced the size of the rear window and replaced the steering shaft with a thinner one. The front windshield is filed down from the Cat 12F kit by GHQ Models. David felt that the manufacturer's paint was too glossy and thick so he stripped the paint and repainted it with a mix of Testor's acrylic flat Insignia yellow and red. He left the front of the moldboard bare metal to better represent normal wear.
