                  | Here are more photos of Timo Bachhuber's latest scratchbuilt masterpiece in 1:87 scale, his Liebherr R9800 mining excavator previously featured in Photo Gallery 645. The model is completely scratchbuilt from around 2,800 parts of styrene and needed almost two years to complete. There are also some photo etched parts and some made of resin (crawler tracks). The model represents the first R9800 ever built by Liebherr for the Burton Coal mine from Thiess in Australia. The original machine weights 800 metric tons and has a bucket capacity of 45m³. The photos were made on a sunny day in a limestone quarry in Bavaria, Germany. More pictures can be found on Timo's home page www.baumaschinenmodelle.com.
