Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Amish Traffic Stop - By Ralph Ratcliffe

Ralph Ratcliffe said the idea for this scene came to him while riding on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to work and seeing a State Police car having pulled someone over, and he thought, wouldn't it be funny to see a horse and buggy police vehicle. Then the ridiculous idea of having the horse and buggy pulling over a high performance car came to him. Ralph scratchbuilt the buggy from ABS plastic, added decals from Microscale, and took the horse from a Woodland Scenic horse set. The figures are Preiser military officers, modified. Ralph added a full beard to one of them and painted the figures to look like police officers but with Amish clothing (the purple shirts and suspenders are typical) and added the straw hats as well. The Plymouth 'Cuda is from Ricko. This was one of the many little vignettes on Ralph's Route87 module on display at the 2014 East Coast Meet in W. Springfield, MA.
