Oilfield Fracturing Unit Trailer - By John Ross

This hydraulic fracturing unit trailer is based on the basic power pump to inject the fracturing chemicals into the drill site. The motor is a scratchbuilt replica of a 16 cylinder Caterpillar diesel engine commonly used in these applications. The big box in the front is the radiator. These things are hooked in series in order to build more pressure (up to 5000 PSI) to inject the sand and water which are primarily used to fracture the drill hole to develop it for production. It is primarily just a (very) big motor and a big high pressure pump. On display again at the 2014 East Coast Meet in W. Springfield, MA.
