Kenworth 884C Prime Mover - By Thomas Lehndorff

During the process of posting photos from the 2013 Fulda Meet we had incorrectly identified Thomas Lehndorff's big Kenworth 884C prime mover. In his correspondence to us correcting the error he offered to send additional photos and details of his model. Thomas says he knows of only one or two prototypes that where built. One was working for the company Almas International and one for Thiokol. The truck is based on the 884 that shares its chassis with the 852 and 953A. The main difference to the base models is the engine. The 884C got an Cummins VTA1710 mated with an Clark CL16000 transmission. It received Clark BD 101.000 axles and 14R25 tires. Thomas' model is completely scratchbuilt including the engine and transmission. He made a silicone casting mold of both of them because he needed the engine and transmission for several other models. Thomas also molded the Clark wheels. He fitted a Tulsa Rufnek 100,000 pound winch to the frame behind the cab.
