These photos were taken on the model railroad of David Johnson's friend Arlan Tietel. Featured are the Great Northern depot in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a Twin City Rapid Transit street car. The scene is based on a photo from the book "Twin City Rapid Transit Pictorial" including a vehicle selection of 1950 Ford (modified Alloy Forms) and 1952 Oldsmobile (Nick Voges casting). Arlan wired the Bowser street car and Busch pickup headlights for this dusk scene. Other vehicles are from Alloy Forms, Athearn, Cutter's (Studebaker), and Classic Metal Works. Arlan modified a Walthers Cornerstone building kit to better resemble the Minneapolis Great Northern Railway depot and fit the available space. Twin City Rapid Transit system was dismantled by 1954 in a scandal that rightly sent some perpetrators to prison. Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota are now in the process of rebuilding light rail lines along some of the former street car lines. Shown below is the corner of the model railroad layout where the station resides. Other photos taken on Arlene's railroad appear in our Photo Galleries 469, 470, 524, and 525. The depot was previously featured in Photo Gallery 582.
