This Hendrickson COE with Trailmobile flatbed trailer from E. Oswald Strohmei is one of his favorite projects because, he says, in his eyes this is a very handsome and authentic truck and trailer combination. Additionally,he likes the IHC Emeryville COEs and particularly the Hendrickson version. With its rectangular front section combining the bumper, the lower grille and the headlights it looks heavier and more 'industrial' than the International version.
The model's cab is from the Matchbox Relay road train. To get a standard version, the boxes under the cab and the air intakes on its back were filed off. The Relay sign on the grille was also filed off and replaced by the Hendrickson "H" made from styrene strips. The mirrors, an air horn and a single exhaust pipe are all from the parts box. The chassis with fuel tanks and wheels is from Herpa, the steps were made from wire. The revenue tag decals on the doors are self made. The flatbed trailer was built from the well known Lonestar Trailmobile 40' flatbed kit. This excellent model needed no detailing, the only added part is the number decal on the bulkhead.
