This is one of Dennis Raper's recent projects, a Mack DM800 dump truck. It features a resin cab, frame, Mack V-8 engine, and wheel set from Ralph Ratcliffe Models. The bed is a 14' box from an old Gibbs-Mercury die-cast toy. Dennis added broken "planks" to the top of the bed, a Trucks N' Stuff frame mounted tool box, an Athearn hydraulic tank, mud flaps, and Plano photo-etched mirrors. The off-road fuel tank mounted behind the cab is from an old 1/25 scale model. The fuel pump is scratched out from styrene and brass. Dennis used a Dremel motor tool to remove most of the hood and engine compartment to accommodate Ralph's fantastic resin Mack V-8 engine. He added the air intake and exhaust piping that runs in front of the firewall and connects with the muffler underneath the truck. The folding hood was made from styrene sheet and tube with a brass wire running through the hinge. Dennis added some rather heavy weathering with dry powders and washes.
