Dennis Raper built this GMC General dump truck with a Herpa truck tractor model and a Ralph Ratcliffe 16' dump bed. Dennis decided the Herpa GMC's cab looked too tall from the bottom of the door glass up so he decided to "chop" the top off and shorten the widow posts by almost three scale inches. Dennis added 3 ft. to the frame, older Herpa spoke wheels and tires on the rear, and a lift axle with Boley wheels and tires. The steer axle is the original Herpa part. He also added Don Mills mirrors, scratchbuilt mud flaps on the cab fenders and dump box, detailed the interior, replaced the turn signals with some made from styrene rod, added a bug visor on the hood, scratchbuilt the exhausts, and added a hydraulic tank on the frame. The paints are all Testors with the black pin striping from a Uni-Ball Vision Micro ink pen. The weathering is from Bar Mills and Bragdon powders, and a little Dull-Cote.
