Here's another look at Dennis Raper's Athearn John Deere JD4020 farm tractor that he converted into a log skidder that we introduced in Photo Gallery 483. This time we're focusing on the equipment trailer which was made from a 20 year old "Road Champs" 1/100 scale full length, fifth wheel type lowboy. Dennis cut the neck off, removed the original ramps, and built a new frame and tongue from styrene I-beam. He then added a tongue jack, working ramps, ribs, taillights, marker lights, scale chain, a spare truck tire, scale lumber, and a scratchbuilt toolbox on the tongue. He also made a handle and lid on the rear of the trailer. This was just done to cover up an unexplained square hole that was originally there; he just made into a storage pit. Dennis used weathering powders, PollyScale paints, and Herpa wheel sets to finish it up! Now the old farmer/logger is fully geared up!
