Here's another pair of photos of Dan Goins' amazing KAW Freightliner FL8664 truck tractor and pneumatic bulk trailer. Perhaps the most amazing fact regarding this model is that it was built over 30 years ago! For those of you who were not engaged in the happy back then, the era was basically the "Stone Age" of 1/87 scale vehicle modeling in North America.

The truck tractor was the "one and only" quality injection molded plastic North American prototype of the time, the Athearn Freightliner with Herpa/Con-Cor spoke wheels. Even though the Freightliner was tooled more than 40 years ago it is still one of the most accurately tooled cabs we've ever had. Dan added additional fuel tanks, Alloy Forms dual exhaust system, rear fenders, along with scratchbuilt mirrors, grab handles, and Details West air conditioner. The trailer is completely scratchbuilt except for the wheels and tires! Previously shown in Photo Gallery 481.
