Dean Hess built this impressive P-I-E tank truck and trailer starting with a Boley model that Dean completely disassembled, stripped off the chrome finish and refinished both tanks requiring some filler and repair to the tanks. Dean also removed much of the detail to backdate the truck to the mid '60s, replaced the hose tubes, and note that the fenders were modified and removed entirely from the leading axle of the trailer. The cab is a Freightliner from Athearn converted to a 60 inch space-saver cab. Note the notch at the rear corner of the cab in order to further tuck in the exhaust stack and converted the headlights to a single headlamp configuration. Dean finished his model with A-Line mirrors and Ken Goudy decals.
