Dennis Raper's explanation accompanying this model is perhaps the best way to introduce it: "This one WAS an Athearn 740 John Deere skidder. I changed it to a 640B model, stripping Athearn's incorrect paint scheme and painting it JD yellow and adding dry transfer decals to the hood and cab. I also added log gaurds on the blade arms, grab handles on the cab sides, a shift lever beside the seat, a water tank to the back of the cab, a mainline and chokers to the winch, and replaced the tires with Dennis Aust wheels and tires. I also moved the front axle forward by one scale foot and made the axle oscillate to give the skidder the correct suspension." A terrific model!
