This Custom Finishing Models white metal kit Cat pipelayer has been heavily modified; the fuel tank was reshaped, the front radiator section was lengthened to match the prototype, the cage around operator was scratchbuilt, the tracks were widened and rubber pads were put on the tracks (the rubber pads are for climbing railroad tracks), the weight rack was shortened to one scale foot to bring it closer to the tractor, the weights were made from sheet plastic and were resin cast, the engine compartment was rebuilt to match the prototype, and a winch is mounted on the back. This unit was modeled after a Cat 572 that Hulcher uses on train derailments.
