From Randy Sawyer this time is an October Treat. Made in October of 2007, this rare 1920 Watson logging truck was scratchbuilt in 1/87 scale following a photograph in the book, "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of American Trucks." The wheels on the truck were built up with sheet styrene, 3/8" Evergreen styrene tubing, and spokes from a Jordan Fordson Tractor. These follow the prototype "cast steel" wheels. The tires are stretched 3/8" Evergreen tubing painted and slipped over the rims. On the log bogie, the wheels are Grandt Line wagon wheels. The Preiser figures were custom painted and the driver figure was modified the driver figure by repositioning the left arm. Notice the right hand steering on the Watson. According to Randy, there were many right hand trucks before left hand steering became standard fare in the mid-twenties. About 20 hours were spent on the project.
