Richard Olson built this New England style 'Brush Breaker'
wildland fire truck starting with the yellow version of the Power Wagon.
He first separated
the hood from the grille/radiator shell and then trimmed the
body/hood to match the prototype and reattached it to the cowl. The
front engine bay was cut out to recieve the Alloy Forms six cylinder
engine with scratchbuilt transmission, radiator and support. The headlights
were drilled out for MV Lenses. The entire brush cage was scratchbuilt
from Evergreen rod and leftover screen. The skid-mounted tank/pump
was completely scratchbuilt including the tank and hose reel, pump,
motor and piping manifold. Richard added three scratchbuilt 'Indian
cans' backpack style water tanks, two suction hoses and storage tray, a
tool box and hose sections. The hose was made from cotton-wrapped wire
from the parts box. He also added ROCO tow hooks, gumball light, modified
fire extinguisher, and Evergreen Hill Design shovel and modified axe.
Paint is Accuflex Gloss red, Model Master Gloss Black, Floquil Engine
black, weathered black, Harbor Gray and old silver. Decals from Microscale.
