This model of a 1921 Autocar Coal Truck was constructed from scratch
in October of 2003 based on an illustration found in an out of print
book, "American Truck Spotters Guide 1920-1970". The cab
was constructed with styrene and brass, and the coal box was made with
scale lumber. That is real 1/87 scale coal in the coal box. The wheels
were taken from a Jordan Highways American LaFrance Pumper kit, but
filed down smaller and rounded off to represent early balloon tires.
The model was weathered with dry colors to "rust" it, and
a driver figure was added by Preiser to complete the scene.
