Here's a very interesting combination from
Jim and Jamie Groeneweg including a pair of new Western
Star 4900 SA Severe Duty 123"BBC
twin steer trucks. The cabs are
revised versions of the basic Italeri Western Star cab converted to
a day cab. All glass is clear acetate cut to
shape. Chassis were made from two Athearn units spliced together with
a 72" spread twin steer, 72" tandem rear bogies,
fenders constructed of Evergreen
plastic sheet.
Front wheels are Athearn; tires are widened
to
represent super singles or flotation, rears have Athearn tires on modified
Herpa six spoke rims. All detail items are made from brass wire or plastic
stock,
colors are custom mix model paint clear-coated
with automobile paint. The leading truck was featured in Photo
Galleries 117, 118,
and 120.
