Built from scratch in December of 2002, this model of a 1923 Kelly-Springfield
Tank Truck is based on an illustration found in an out of print book, "American
Truck Spotters Guide 1920-1970". The model is composed of styrene,
brass, and scale lumber. The tank was made from a section of birch
dowel that was turned on a lathe and filed, and the model was painted
with thinned down Humbrol paints and weathered with dry colors. Wheels
are modified Circus Craft Wagon Wheels with 7/16" plastic tubing
added for the tires, and the driver figure is by Preiser.
