Here's another view of Richard Olson's Ford Super Duty "hotshot" car
hauler. It was built using a Matchbox Ford F-250 Superduty with Herpa
1-ton wheels,
Trident
tires,
and
a scratchbuilt
fifth wheel.
The 45-foot, tri-axle gooseneck trailer is completely scratchbuilt
using Plano Model grating material and Wiking wheels. The trailer features
opening storage lockers on both sides, movable jackstands, and removable
ramps.
Construction details: The trailer sides
are .020 Evergreen on top of .040 square framing. The opening was cut
into
the
side, with
a new door cut to fit perfectly.
A length of Detail Associates .019" brass wire was added on the top edge of
the face of the door, cut longer than the door.
The 'hinges' are HO scale 2x4 layed on edge at the top of the sides of the
opening, each with a hole drilled in the middle. Handles were added
using
more styrene bits.
Cars are out-of the box CMW tied down with cables. Shown at the 2001
Midwest Meet in
Chicago. Also shown in Photo
Gallery 139.
