This extraordinary collection of modeling won the Race Car category
at the 2000 East Coast Meet. These models by Tony De
Seta represent a vintage race car restoration shop. The #98 junior midget
racer [lower left in photo] is a Micro Machine with the hood opened
and an "Offy" [Offenhauser] engine installed. Wheels and tires
are modified Herpa. The 1953 Hilegass sprint car [lower right center
in photo] is scratchbuilt completely of brass rod and aluminum panels
made from soda cans. It also has a scratchbuilt Offy engine and Herpa
wheels and tires. The tools, body panels, spare parts, and workbenches
are also scratchbuilt.
