Athearn has announced a die-cast ready-to-run model of the John Deere Waterloo Boy tractor built from 1918-1923. Expected by end of December, 2002.
Brekina has announced several products for delivery in December 2002:
#39050 - 1956 Unimog 402, long wheelbase: Brekina introduced the 1957 Unimog 411 LWB at this year's Nürnberg toy fair; the model has been available since May. Now, as a surprise just before yet another Spielwarenmesse, its predecessor, which mainly differs in the form of the cab and is nicknamed “frog-eye” because of its strange headlamps, will be delivered to hobby shops. Colors are light-gray or green. #29200 - 1961 Volvo 121 “Amazon” two-door sedan: 1956's successor of the Volvo PV-144 (available from Wiking and Busch), leaving behind the old body-on-frame construction and powered by a revised 60hp, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine, was introduced as a four-door sedan at first. In 1961 and 1962 respectively, a two-door sedan and a station wagon were added to the range, with engines of up to 100hp out of a cubic capacity of 2.0 litres. The name goes back to the beautiful and strong, but belligerent, ladies of Greek mythology. However, “Amazon” could not be used in Germany as Kreidler, a motorcycle manufacturer, owned the rights to the name; hence, the car was sold as the 121, 122 and 123, indicating the engine used (Bill’s Note: The Amazon was sold in the U.S. as the 122 from 1959 to 1968). Between 1956 and 1970, more than 667,000 P120-series cars were built in Sweden. Brekina has already announced the introduction of the four-door sedan in 2003. The current 121 Amazon model fulfills all expectations based on Brekina’ prior very fine models of the Auto Union 1000S and Peugeot 404 sedan, topping off these new standards (chrome-plated parts, printed details) with molded rearview mirrors. The first colors are red, blue and a turquoise green.

Vollmer has shipped their model of the Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart (automobile showroom) to hobby distributors and retailers. The prototype opened in October 2000 and is operated by Porsche AG close to their production site. As Porsche dealerships look about the same almost everywhere in the world, this model may well be used on North American dioramas and layouts. The model, listed by Walthers for $69.99 (#770-5606), is not a kit, but could use some work to further improve it. A few desks, some salespeople and customers, probably a staircase to the offices located on the second floor, and most important, workshop equipment (e.g., Preiser set #17186) may help; a must is four to five Porsche models for the showroom plus some cars for the used-car lot and the garage. No vehicle models are included. The current range of sports cars is available from Herpa while older models are made by Wiking, Busch, and Herpa. Although the dealership may seem too low at first glance, it is up to H0 scale. The first story on the real building is just 2.10 meters (6’10”) high.
