Nelson Valade - 1955-2022


We were very saddened to hear of the recent passing of Nelson Valade. Many know Nelson from his association with AA Hobbies in Warwick, RI, and the source of many, many River Point Station models to his mail order customers.

"Nelson S. Valade, 67, of Hope Valley, RI, passed away Tuesday, July 26th, 2022. Born in Cranston, RI, he was the son of the late Raymond Arthur and Lillian Florence (Luckjiff) Valade. Nelson served in the United States Coast Guard, beginning in 1977 and received an honorable discharge in 1997. He worked as a Sustenance Specialist on many vessels, including the CGC Dallas 718. Upon retirement he worked at Flood Ford of East Greenwich for many years. Nelson was an avid automotive and railroad model collector, and assisted his friends, Richard, Jack, Ted and John, at AA Hobbies, in Warwick, RI, with purchasing, customizing, and selling collectibles. Nelson is survived by his sister Joan Caroline Valade, brother Dennis Raymond Valade, and sister-in-law Kathleen Susan Crocker; step-daughters, Erika Castergini, Victoria Young, and Aimee Rupp; step-grandchildren Joe Jr, and Kyle Cicchetti and the late Aaron Young; and step-great grandchildren Joey Cicchetti, and London and Harrison Rupp."
