The "revolution" is the momentum that 1/87 scale
vehicle modeling and collecting has been building over the past five
years and the respect and attention being paid to this scale by more
and more prominent manufacturers! As more and more manufacturers
recognize the seriousness of the 1/87 collectors market, both collectors
and modelers benefit with wider selections of models with greater and
greater degree of accuracy and detail! This initial launch model from
OHS Models is nothing short of spectacular!
First announced at our 2000 East Coast Meet regional club show in Towson, MD last year, OHS Models (England)
has completed and shipped its first 1/87th scale model ever. This fabulous
brass model of the Unit Rig MT4400, a 260 ton mining truck, is now on
its way to customers around the globe. The OHS Models launch into 1/87th
scale was a run of 300 models. The MT4400 program has already
achieved an unprecedented "sold out" status at OHS corporate
level! The three different paint schemes are shown above. Item #871
is the Unit Rig Lectra Haul Yellow (left), #871.1 Unit Rig
Terex Yellow (right), and #871.2 Unit Rig White & Gray (center).
The models feature working steerable front wheels, see-through front
grille, full engine and engine compartment detail, simulated window
material in cab, positionable dump bed with working cylinders and simulated
hydraulic hoses, Bridgestone logo on rubber tires, serial numbered and
delivered in a hard shell box. To protect the investment of the individual
collectors, OHS Models' policy is NOT to ever re-run these exact models
(although different paint schemes may certainly be produced in the future).
OHS Models has indicated to Club President Dan Goins that the company
has plans to produce more 1/87th scale brass construction and mining
models in the future based on the outstanding success of this initial
release. Our 1/87th scale community can be very proud of this achievement!!!
