Busch has converted both vehicles into perfect 1:87 scale models.
The models will be introduced at the same time as the full-size cars
at the Smart display area. The new Busch models will be available
at Smart Centers beginning in November and through the general hobby
trade in spring 2003. This new car is especially interesting as it
is said to be the most likely first Smart car to make it over to the
U.S.
The exquisite Busch models are just 39.4 mm (1.55")
long and consist of 35 individual parts. Jörg Vallen says it is
one of the best models the company has ever made. The multicolored panels
of the original are reproduced in the model with similarly colored,
separate parts. Headlights, fog lamps and taillights are prototypical.
Even the instrument panel is a multipart assembly. The model also has
a separate steering wheel, separate outside mirrors and complete interior
trim. Especially noteworthy are the delicate black windshield wipers.
The open sport wheels are painted aluminum.
Special attention was given to the detail printing, which
includes:
The new Smart Logo in front and Smart signature on the
back in silver
Third center-mounted rear brake light in red
Black-printed door handles
Upholstered seat inserts in brighter gray than the seats
Rear spoiler with black printing (Roadster Coupé)
Silver-printed seat backs (Roadster)
Just like the larger versions, the first models for the
Paris auto show will be offered in Shine Yellow (Roadster) and Star
Blue (Roadster Coupé). Both models will be supplied in a PC box
with "Smartware" packaging. Special thanks to
Jörg Vallen and Bill Cawthon for this update! [posted
