The Ford E-350 we told you about several months ago is
now scheduled for delivery in August and September 2001. Busch Auto-modelle's
new Ford E-350 Emergency Medical Service vehicle will make its first
appearance decorated for the private ambulance owned by Schweinfurter
Kugellager Fabrik (Schweinfurter Ball-Bearing Factory). At SKF
it is primarily the first responder to industrial accidents. The Ford
E-350 chassis-cab is one of the most popular bases for custom EMS bodies.
Busch's highly-detailed 1/:87 scale model of the SKF
ambulance is the first in a new collector's series. It includes many
of the features found on the full-size original including:
- Side-mounted warning lights in two colors
- Chrome-plated running boards and other accents
- Specially formed and printed radiator grille
- Chrome-backed headlights for correct appearance
- Extra surround on headlights
- Superfine "turbine" wheels
- A precision masterpiece.
The new Ford E-350 is Busch Model No. 41803. It will
be available at the end of August or early September. American collectors
and modern-era model railroaders will find that is is easy to modify
the German-style ambulance to a more American appearance. A little Poly-S
ELO (Easy Lift Off paint remover) to remove the German
"112" emergency number and the "SKF" markings (or
the use of Microscale's Emergency Vehicle decals to cover them up) and
the substitution of red warning lights for some of the blue ones. Busch
offers an excellent accessory set of modern warning lights that will
do the job nicely. [posted 7/23/2001] |
