The 2003 Spring Model Survey is over and the response
was tremendous. Nearly 550 responses from seventeen countries around
the world, giving us a very nice sample to work with.
You can check out the winners in each category, but it's
worth noting that two of the categories were decided by extremely slim
margins. In the Modern Truck category, the margin was less than one
percent of the total votes cast and in Modern Cars, the top three vote-getters
were separated by less than three percent. This would seem to mean
that any of the top models would be winners from a sales standpoint.
Thanks to everyone who took to time to share their opinion.
We will be doing some further analysis and then passing the information
on to several modelmakers. If licensing and other arrangements can
be worked out, we hope to see some of these models in production in
the coming years.
Special thanks, as always, to Bob Johnson, who set up
the survey and tally program.
We will be conducting more of these surveys in the future,
covering other types of models, such as large trucks, construction
equipment and specialized vehicles. Your opinions are important, so
be looking for the announcements. Check out the Final
Results! We've now posted a downloadable Adobe
Acrobat version with photographs of each vehicle. Bill
