Folks, this weekend's show and meet is
almost here and we'd encourage you, if you haven't already, to firm
up your plans to see us at the show. It's shaping up to be a stellar
weekend for 1/87 scale vehicle modelers and collectors. As an added
bonus, a group of club members is gathering at the Holiday Inn on Saturday
evening for a general bull session and "show and tell". Both
out-of-towners and locals are invited to this gathering. It will be very informal and we plan on gathering in the hotel lounge around
6:30 p.m.
Lodging: For those from out of town who
may be spending the night in the area, we have secured a room rate of
$65.00 at the Holiday Inn where the meet is being held [note: the
"secret code words" to get this rate seems to be "model
car show group"]. If you'd like to shop around, additional
accommodations are available at a Days Inn next door, Motel 6 a half
block away, and a Ramada Express across the freeway.
Our 2001 East Coast Meet already has modelers
coming from Canada, California, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia in addition
to the modelers in the region. You are encouraged to bring your models
for display, contest entry, sale, or just "show and tell".
The meet and displays/contests are open to non-members as well as club
members.

If you're planning on coming to the show you might consider
making the trip to Timonium (Baltimore), Maryland for the Great
Scale Train Show taking place the same weekend on Saturday and
Sunday (June 23 & 24, 2001). This offers the opportunity to stop
on the way in or out from our show or a very worthwhile side trip if
you live in the area. This show has dealers in attendance from all over
the eastern U.S. and offers some additional buying opportunities for
vehicles and railroad models. [posted 04/28/2001 |
