Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Foden Steam Traction Engine - By Randy Sawyer

This model of a vintage Foden Steam Traction Engine was completely scratchbuilt using styrene and brass and requiring more than 17 Hours to complete. The model is based on a design found in a book on British Steam Traction Engines. Even the wheels and tires were built up from scratch. This operation alone took 3 and 1/2 hours. Spokes from a Jordan Fordson Tractor were overlayed with .020 x .040 styrene and then epoxied into 3/8 inch styrene tubing for the rims and tires. Painting was done using Humbrol enamels and weathering with dry pigments. The model measures exactly 2-3/4 inches long.
