Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Kenworth T800 Dry Bulk Tanker - By Jim Groeneweg

Here's some new photos of Jim Groeneweg's Canadian prototype bulk hauler model. Jim used a Dennis Aust resin T800 cab with a resin 42" flat top KW bunk mounted on a Promotex chassis featuring the NeWay air ride suspension. Resin fuel tanks with scratchbuilt Gardner Denver blower, Promotex half fenders riding on Athearn spoke wheels all around. Other added detail items include convex mirrors, grab handles, bunk mounted load lights and windshield wipers. Colors are Mini white over '72 Dodge Truck blue topped with clear. The tanker started out as two Kibri bulk tankers that were joined together and a midsection grafted in to give it some height with scratchbuilt frame/fenders. All detail items (hose/pipes, etc) were made from aluminum tubing with a photo etched cat walk (modified Lonestar) and brass ladder. It rides on Athearn trailer spoke wheels painted in a custom mix grey acrylic enamel. Decals are from J-Bot and A-Line. Also shown in Photo Gallery 293.
