Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

1918 Kleiber Truck - By Randy Sawyer

In the middle of the summer of 2007, Randy Sawyer scratchbuilt this rustic-looking 1918 Kleiber truck based on a photograph in the book, "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of American Trucks". Obviously this truck was left out in the open to the elements for many years. At least this is the appearance that weathering with dry pigments and special painting techniques gives this unique 1/87 scale model. For added interest, the engine compartment was left open and a simplified engine block was placed there complete with a manifold from a Jordan Fordson Tractor.
