Patrick McDonald tells us, "In 1961 when I went to work for the Forest Service, some of these tough old trucks were still in service. I recall a time when the crew found a lightning fire and turned off the road and bounced their way up to the fire. On the way up, a fender fell off. They just kept going, suppressed the fire, and on the way back down, threw the fender in the back. Took it to the shop and had it welded back on. So there is a prototype for the Power Wagon with the fender in the back!"
