Chester Fesmire almost had us double checking our rules book until he explained that Armistice Day (Veterans' Day in the U.S.) is a shared holiday with England and France to honor those that have served in their respective armed forces. This scene depicts not the holiday itself but commemorates, in the spirit of the holiday, those serving and those that have served. This young soldier is coming home for the final time from his active duty. Small garages just like this, are the gathering place for young men (and women too) that have a passion for the automobile. This particular garage was a second home to this fellow and everyone in it has been anxious for his safe return. Chester commented, "It is my hope and prayer that our folks serving in the armed forces will all be welcomed home by friends and family." The structure is scratchbuilt from sheet styrene in brick pattern. The details are cast metal from Evergreen Hill Designs or scratchbuilt. The '40 Ford is a resin casting (that Chester suspects may be from an old Tyco piece) that he cut open the hood and put a V-8 from a Hot Wheels toy, wheels are from a Busch '50 Chevy pickup. Figures are from Prieser and the old Chrysler outside is a Sylvan Scale Windsor.
