As if the announcement a few days ago of the coming owner-operator paint scheme Kenworths wasn't enough (see below), Athearn has announced Mack B & R models in multiple variations for 1/87 scale! Expected delivery of the first batches is early 2005.

Here's a close-up of the tow truck bodies mounted on the new Athearn Mack B (front) and R chassis (rear). The production models will, of course, have proper color tinted emergency lights instead of the clear lights shown.

Athearn is readying their previously announced Kenworth W900 upgraded truck tractor in 12 sets of a truck tractor paired with a 20' container and chassis similar to their initial launch of the upgraded Freightliners. Shown above are the twelve different tractor paint schemes and the container and chassis they're expected to be paired with. Many thanks to Athearn for the opportunity to get these advance photos!
Athearn is also expected to ship their Ford C rescue trucks in November. Coming around year-end will be the Ford C TeleSqurt ladder trucks.
