Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

2000 West Coast Meet Report

The 1/87 Vehicle Club's West Coast Meet, held January 23, 2000, in Ontario, California, was a smashing success! The models entered in the modeling contest categories were, as we have come to expect, truly extraordinary. We also had a fairly large variety of excellent models for display only that were not entered in the competition. We were also fortunate to have the have display samples on hand of the new Promotex Peterbilt 362E in both 2 and 3 axle versions, Pacific dump truck, and International Harvester garbage truck. Additionally, we had what was definitely the biggest hit of the show, the Classic Metal Works Mini-Metal series' first four models in two colors each. Nobody passed by the club table without drooling over these little jewels and quite a number of people dragged their friends from the adjacent brass train show and Railroad Prototype Modelers' meets for a close look! Everybody wanted to buy our display samples!

Additional new products on display were the Paul Heiser Sherman tank models, a very limited production, custom built automobile hauler from Bob Leinbach of Boxcar Hobbies, and a pre-production sample of Lonestar Models' new stake bed truck. Although they've been released a short while, A-Line's excellent Wabash National Duraplate trailer was available for sale. As always, there was an extraordinary variety of models, kits, and detail parts for sale that are simply impossible to find under one roof anywhere else.
