German WWII Bussing 900 Heavy Cargo Truck & Trailer - By Rick Hoskinson

Rick Hoskinson built this German WWII Bussing 900 heavy cargo truck and trailer from two Wiking Bussing 8000 model trucks with trailers and the cab of a Wiking Hanomag tractor to convert it to a six axle truck. The rear fenders and dual rear axle was removed from the first trailer and added to the lengthened truck chassis. The trailer cargo bed as well as the tarp cover was shortened slightly and replaced the shorter single axle bed. The hood was removed from the more modern 8000 cab and grafted on to the enlarged and lengthened Hanomag cab which closely resembles the more boxy 900 series cab. The Wiking wheels and tires were replaced with larger Trilex units from Herpa.  The trailer from the second kit was used to complete the set up by removing the fenders. Added details include A-Line windshield wipers and MV Products headlights and tail light lenses for both truck and trailer. Scratchbuilt items include cab sun visor, bumper mounted clearance markers, dual lollipop mirrors, exhaust system, louvers on hood sides, hood side latches, and license plates. Paint is Model Masters Panzer Gray with a custom mix of gray, green and brown to simulate the canvas tarp color. Decals are from TL. These impressive trucks were used to transport the heaviest of cargo including German tanks weighing almost 9 tons.
