During the mid to late '80s, Burlington Northern Railroad (precursor to the BNSF Railway) had hundreds of highly visible trailers painted in the unmistakable Cascade Green paint we all equate to the heyday of the BN. Gary Walton built several trailers in various stages of "life" that appeared in a Model Railroading magazine article entitled "The Green Brae's of the BN" or something like that. Like many of Gary's 45' trailer collection, these started with an Accurail shell with A-line floor/suspension and Athearn wheel/tire sets, Walthers landing gear, Microscale decals and PollyScale paint. When searching for modeling topics, Gary says he relied on railside photography to identify the best subjects to model. During the nineties and early 2000s Gary photographed hundreds of trailers, most of which he has yet to model. The late '90s for modeling intermodal was and still is Gary's favorite period due to the outrageous variety of prototypes found on the rail.
