Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Texaco Oil Distributor - By Alan Olson

This Texaco gasoline station and distributor diorama is a model of Alan Olson's father-in-law's business in Ada, Minnesota as it appeared about 1960. The model was built in 1971, mostly of illustration board - including all the lettering and 'stars'. The sign, pumps, etc are all scratch as is the full interior. The bulk tanks and lube oil shed are styrene. Three of the vehicles are from the original model - a Varney 1950 Ford F2 pickup, Varney Ford F6 tank truck with scratch tank, and an Athearn/Lionel 1957 Plymouth Sport Suburban wagon. The rest of the vehicles are new: 1956 Ford C600 12ft platform stake (Walther's F cab converted to COE before they came out with one), 1943 Chevrolet G7100 9ft dump (Roco 6x6 shortened with an operable dump added), and Alloy Forms 1949 DeSoto 4 door and 1950 Chev Fleetline. [Please note: not all vehicles described above are shown in this view]
