One of the books that Richard Olson says he read and reread as a kid was "Building Model Trucks" by Phil Jensen where they built and upgraded several trucks in 1/24-25th scale. Recently another large scale truck modeler built a version of the cover truck, which got Richard's gears rolling.
His rendition started with an undecorated Atlas Ford LNT-9000 model with a stretched frame to fit the Boley mixer body. Rear wheels came from the parts box which appear to be old Lee Town parts. The front flotation tires are each two plastic RPP filed and sandwiched together with Athearn wheels. The mixer body decoration is hand cut and applied decal squares and triangles. Additional paint and decals and detailing finish off the cab. Posted October 28, 2022 |
