Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Plymouth Suburban Demolition Derby Wagon - By Richard Olson

Richard Olson asked, "What do you do with an old Athearn generic station wagon?" While it could be detailed to make it pass off as a stock Plymouth Suburban station wagon, Richard took the ‘easier’ route.

After rusting out the wheel wells and fenders, the rear was distressed from a few good ‘hits’. Through the hood headers, driver’s windscreen, number placard, dash, driver’s seat, and fuel cell were added as were the junker Eko front tires and Roco mud tires.

The car was liberally coated in race red with hand applied lettering for the supporters which pay homage to Richard's in-laws and friends; Salim Auto Parts, Jones Salvage, and Alpha Auto Finders (405) 377-9229 (Actual business!). This was built back in 2003. Richard reports that sadly, his father-in-law passed away in October 2021 but he did get to see this model. His car dealership, Alpha Auto Finders is the ‘sponsor’ for this model.
