Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

German WW ll Mercedes Benz 1500 Heavy Car - By Rick Hoskinson

This model by Rick Hoskinson is the result of combining the frame/running gear, hood and front fenders of a Roco Mercedes 1500 LF8 fire truck with a Herpa Type 40 Horch uniform body. Scratchbuilt details include the dashboard, gear levers, hand brake, foot pedals, rifle rack, canvas top, width indicators, tow cable, underbody toolbox, trench/ditch ramps, exhaust, driver's mirror and license plates. Other details include A-line windshield wipers and stirrup steps, MV Products head and tail light lenses and most of the military weapons and equipment are from Preiser. The two handheld anti tank rockets (yellow) were scratchbuilt from styrene rod and the sling on the MP-40 submachine gun was made from wine bottle foil. Paint is Model Masters enamel and weathering was done with washes, pastel pigments and art pencils. The license plate decals are from TL.
