White Western Star Truck Tractor & 45' Refrigerated Trailer - By Jim Groeneweg

Jim Groeneweg built this 1970s vintage White Western Star truck tractor using his own resin cab casting mounted on a Herpa/Promotex chassis ten hole Alcoa aluminum wheels on the steer axle and spoke wheels on the drive axles, a common combination for the era. Jim used various details such as Masterbilt Models exhaust heat shields and large fuel tanks to build this very unique rig. The reefer trailer is an Athearn 45’ Fruehauf van with an A-Line Thermo-King reefer added to the nose and A-Line spoke wheels on a modified 72” spread tandem trailer suspension. Decals are all Microscale; a side door was added to the trailer from a Boley van body rear door section.
