This model of a Canadian National Laser container and chassis built by Gary Walton represents models that were published in a cornerstone Model Railroading magazine "Modeling Modern Intermodal" article focusing on the weathering of intermodal trailers and containers. After many years of trackside photography and building truck models, Gary realized that his models of rail trailers were lacking the character and texture of the well worn prototypes. His weathering techniques use a layering process to achieve the typical look of a rail trailer or container after years of continuous exposure to the elements and rough handling. Chalk dust, artist's pencils, dry-brushing, wet-washes, scratching with a dull X-Acto blade, and multiple seal coats are all utilized to achieve the final result.
